Fun Times....some not so fun too

Fun Times...we recently had some very fun times

and some very hard worrisome, not fun times.

It's time for a long overdue catch up post!

Let's start with Sunday August 14

It happened to be a beautiful Sunday

so I asked Gina and Justin to join us for dinner at Scoops,

a favorite little eating place near us.

Then I figured I may as well say something to the rest of the gang

to see if anyone else wanted to come...

almost everyone did!

We ate yummy food
then some played mini golf...

and some chatted about campers
and other guy stuff 😀

Gina needed to get up early for work the next day so they soon left.

Of course we had to have ice cream!!

Corey had stayed home because he wasn't felling good.
After some had gotten their ice cream
he called Christy to ask her to take him to urgent care....

Concerning but still thought they would be able to treat and send him home.

Not this time.

We took the kids home and were trying to get them settled.

He was sent to the ER from urgent care.
Ok, that seemed concerning.
Then he was scheduled for another EKG
then a heart cath procedure...

alarming!!

Probably around 11:00 Christy called me.
They discovered a blocked artery and he had indeed had a heart attack.

We cried, we prayed lots, we thanked God he decided
to have it checked out
and for the specialists who were already at the hospital and could
take good care of him right away.

He wasn't coming home and that made Noah cry.

Again, thank God we are living here and can provide
the kids with some normal when life throws stuff their way.

To make a long story short,
Corey came home from the hospital that Tuesday.
We were so thankful!

Ellen, Dale and I were planning to leave for a week of vacation
on Sunday, Aug. 21.
It really felt like we shouldn't go
but both Corey and Christy said we had to go as planned.

I gathered and purchased and packed some things that week.

Saturday, August 20

Carson was having a birthday the next day
and we and his other grandparents were invited to come to
celebrate with them.

We had a wonderful time!

Noah came along with us to celebrate his best friend!

The boys played frisbee golf.

Soon mommy asked Carson if he wanted to open gifts or have cake...

He chose cake!

His mommy, my daughter, gets a store bought cake,
scrapes off the icing,
then decorates it herself!
She is amazing!!

Lighting a candle...

Carson blows it out!

I think these boys want to dig in!!

Gifts was next.

He was thrilled with his gifts...
lots of leggos, some computer games,
walkie talkies, and something else...

had to hide his eyes...
it was in the shed.

was it a new bike??

He is so surprised!
(so were we!!)

And very very happy!!

It was a real battery operated lawn mower!!
Something he has been asking for for months!!

That's one HAPPY KID!!

Later while we were visiting
and soon going home
I got a text from Christy that she was taking Corey
to the ER.

A neighbor was with the other two kids till we could get home.

Oh my, with heavy hearts and prayers flowing upward
we hurried home!

He was admitted and more tests were ordered.
Christy was able to stay with him that night.

Again, we weren't sure we would go on our vacation.

As the day progressed, the kids were all taken care of
by family and friends
they said we were to go.

It was hard to leave!!!

Family and friends stepped in to help in our absence.
We thank God for such wonderful support.

We arrived in Lewes, DE that evening...
the same little condo along the canal we stayed at last August.

It was good to be back!

I will end this here and continue tomorrow.

Oh my! What a hard and stressful time. I can see why you were torn about going. I'll be back to see how things turned out.

Such a lot going on in this post, Doris, from a fun family gathering for your grandson's birthday to his surprise gift and concern about your son. Nice to see all the pics and to learn that your son is doing better. Glad you were able to get away as planned as teh views were wonderful!
