A Family Picnic

It's a good day to have a good day. It is even though so much is happening all around us and around the world to cause great sadness. A conflict of emotion for sure!

Yesterday was a day I have been looking forward to for about a month....our family had a picnic!

Because the virus is still lurking and continues to rear it's ugly head, we have not been visiting indoors. It's been so long since we have eaten together. This mama really wanted to feed her kids and grands!!! We talked about potential dates and two Sunday possibilities emerged. We decided on the second date which was yesterday.

Weather really was a concern since we would need to be outside. What about rain, what would we do? Intense heat??

All week long it was stinking crazy hot and humid. But on Saturday afternoon a cold front came through and temps dropped. It was a remarkable difference. Sunday started out kinda cloudy but as the day went on it was gorgeous!! I don't even know what the temperature was but I suspect in the low 80's and no humidity. Just perfect!

The other Sunday we talked about?? It rained and rained that day.

I told them to come anytime in the afternoon and we would eat around 5.

We stated visiting in the front yard.

Then moved to the driveway to eat.

Corey moved the grill to the driveway where he grilled the hamburgers and hotdogs.

The food was on a table on the garage.

Standard picnic food...

hot dogs and burgers

veggies and dip, potato salad

cantaloupe, watermelon and grapes

potato chips, cupcakes, ice cream treats.

The griddle  grill...
Corey and Christy purchased it this year and love it!

(Thanks to my sister who took this interesting shot!)

Big circle of precious family πŸ’•

After dinner chats!

My sister, Mary Ellen, had texted me
to see if Ellen would like to go for a walk.
Ellen did and I told her to stay for dinner too!

Gina and Justin also invited their friends,
Mile and Kelley,
to come.

Always room for more, right?
Yes indeed!!

Mike, Kelly, Gina, Justin

Mike's dad is one of Grandma Mary's sons.

Was so wonderful to chat about our memories of

sweet Mary and my dad whom they loved dearly as well.

Oh how I miss them!!!!

The little kids were so happy that big cousin Andrew came!

After dinner they wanted to race him 😊

Brinley and Noah ran like crazy and Andrew,
they called him a slow poke, haha!!
(pics are not the best but too cute not to post)

This kid ate and then snoozed.
His mommy said it's not unusual for him.

Gina and Justin and Kelly and Mike came on their motorcycles.
Before leaving Gina asked Noah if he wanted to sit on it.

He did πŸ˜€

Gina started it and then told him what to do with his left hand...

Oh, revving the engine on a noisy cycle is every boys dream come true...
big boys and little boys!

They love riding!

A little later we got out the ice cream treats...

Yum!

Then the kids played some more

And the adults talked some more!

All too soon it was clean up time and goodbye time.

And my heart and soul was full.
The BEST!!!

Happy, Happy, Happy! There is such joy in seeing all the family together, and I know as a mom how it blesses me too. You have a big group when you're together. I love all the pics!

So nice to see and read about your family gathering for a picnic, Doris. The grands certainly looked like they were enjoying those ice cream treats and Noah looked happy on the cycle as well!
