Road Trip!

Guess where I was for a few days?

A clue is in the header picture...

Yes, I was at the beach!!

If you have been here for any length of time

you will know that the beach is my favorite place to get away.

This trip was not very long but it was for a very special occasion.

Ellen's 26th birthday!

We left Tuesday around noon for Lewes, DE.

We stayed in the same condo we stayed at in June 2019.

The owner graciously rented to us even though

we couldn't go for the entire week.

Ready to roll!
She always takes those special bears with her ♥

The drive went smoothly, a blessing for sure.

The unit we rented is on the third floor and faces the road behind the building.
I prefer that view over the parking lot view!

So much better!

After we arrived and carried all our stuff up those stairs
(no elevator!)
we decided on a takeout dinner from one of our favorite restaurants,
Bethany Blues.
Sooo good!

Of course the next thing our girl wanted to do
was head to the boardwalk in Rehoboth!

It was a gorgeous evening!

She got a Rita's mango ice!

Love a beach town at night!

Wednesday

One nice thing about virtual classes is they can be done anywhere

and Ellen did just that on Wednesday morning!

She does three classes from Lighthouse during the week in place of

going into the facility right now for her job.

Then to the beach, ahhh!

Just perfect!

Our dinner that evening was food we brought with us.

Because Ellen had her regular exercise,

virtual of course, with Fitness 4 Focus at 6.

Then to the boardwalk again...

Ellen loves the boardwalk!

Ellen loves to walk.

I walked some then stopped while she and her dad kept going.

I took pictures and enjoyed the views!

Sun was setting....so pretty!

Thursday

Ellen's Birthday!!

She was so ready to start opening gifts!

I forgot to say that I had forgotten to pack PJ's for her.
I had done her packing while she was doing her online class Tuesday morning.
Good thing there were two sets of pajama's
included in her gifts....
she got to open that one early!

Both have cats on them, of course!

It was a very hot day so it was decided not to go to the beach until later in the afternoon.

Grotto Pizza takeout for lunch!
It's a favorite and what she wanted for her birthday!

Another beautiful day at the beach!

Were headed to the boardwalk that evening when it started to lightening.
Ellen does not like storms!
We went to the grocery store
and to a gas station to fill the car with gas
and back to the condo.
A disappointment for sure.

Friday

We packed up and left the condo.
Too short a stay but still so good!!

I really wanted to go to the Crocs outlet store
before going home,
Outlet shopping is usually so fun
but not this year!
The Crocs store was only letting in 10 customers at a time.
Even though we were there before it opened we were not among the first 10.
It was HOT and waiting was not pleasant.
And I didn't find anything I really liked this time. =(

Was lunchtime by then so we stopped at Chic-fil-a
and ate in the car before heading home.

This Chic-fil-a has a fantastic system to get cars through quickly!

4 lanes for ordering!

The line to pick up moved very quickly,
food was ready when you got there.
So efficient!

Our trip home went smoothly till we got to Lancaster area (almost home)

Traffic was backed up and a heavy rainstorm
made it take almost 40 min. longer than it should have.

But we made it safely and that's all that matters.

It was good to be home!

We have another shorter beach trip planned in 3 weeks.
Yeah!

Thanks for hanging in, I know this was long and
includes a bunch of pictures.

Please take care, stay cool, and be well!

Hurray for beach vacations. We were going to go this year, but not with the virus going on. Too crowded for me. But your pictures made me want to be there. So glad you had a good time and that Ellen had a good birthday.

I hung in and loved it all! I think I'm jealous when I look at that boardwalk. Like I said on Facebook, I don't think we've been on a boardwalk since 2008. I just can't imagine us ever taking the time to go to a beach in New Jersey or Maryland when we have family to visit in Portand and Florida. IF we ever get to go on any trip again. UGH!!! I do love the beaches at both places (well in Oregon it's the coast, not the beach), but I do miss the boardwalk.

Belated Happy 🎂 Birthday wishes to Ellen and you all picked a great place to getaway and celebrate. Thanks for taking us along to share in the fun, even if that didn't include the pizza and Dairy Queen treat!
