Back Home Again

We are home as of Saturday evening. Sunday was a busy day and all the days this week will be the same.....vacation is definitely over!

We were hoping to go to the beach on Friday afternoon. Well, we went....

Sand everywhere on the parking lot was a clue
that conditions were not favorable to a pleasant beach day!

An uncrowded beach was also a clue!

Those were some brave people out there!

Our gentle beach was more than
a ripple that day.

We didn't stay.

Went back to the condo to shower off the sun screen
then Ellen and I headed to the outlets for some retail therapy.

Fun!

Later we ended up here for dinner....

It's been many years since I've eaten at an Applebees.
Our food was absolutely delicious!

Back to the condo to start the packing up process.

Ellen was so sad that we didn't go to the boardwalk
but I had too much to get done before our next big day.

Dale and Ellen did go for a walk around the community
which pleased her.

I took a coffee break on the screened porch
and enjoyed the beautiful sky!

Soon saw someone walking down that path....

Hey, I know those people!

Next morning we needed to leave by 9 because we had a boat to catch!

Ellen wishing that our stay wasn't over.
Although she was so excited for where we were going.

We were taking the Ferry from Lewes, DE to
Cape May, NJ!

Over the moon excited!

We walked around the terminal before it was time to drive the van on the ferry.

Someone is super excited ☺
This is something she has wanted to do for a long time.

Here we go....
The adventure begins!

We went up to the top level and found seats near the back of the boat.

That's our favorite gentle beach,
Lewes, DE
Instead of being on the beach watching the ferry coming and going,
we were on the ferry seeing the beach!

Another ferry going into Lewes as were were leaving.

They moved all around the boat.
I moved some but always found a seat!

It got a bit rocky sometimes....

We drove off into NJ.....

our adventure was not over yet!

To Cape May County Zoo
"to see lions and tigers and bears, oh my!"

We love this zoo.
A lot of other folks thought Saturday was a perfect day
to go too!!

Seems to wishing for Ellen to feed him!

Flamingos fascinate me.

So do zebras!

I sat outside while they visited the reptiles.
I don't do such things!!

Good grief, I had already seen 2 snakes that weren't in any building!

As we were approaching the African Safari area
a snake slithered out across the walkway
THROUGH a baby stroller wheel
and under a table where the baby's parents sat!!!!

TOO MUCH!
Way too much.

Needless to say I kept an eye on the ground
around me after that.

The other snake was in the pond with the turtles.
shiver, shiver.

So neat to see!

Siesta time!

Beautiful!
(but glad for the fence!)

There were lots of pretty planters around the Zoo.

One more stop on the way home at a Wendy's
and then

HOME!

A good place to be.

Hi Doris, Oh what lovely pics. Nice to see Ellen's pretty smile! It's been so long since I've visited a zoo. The zebra might be my favorite. The ferry ride would be wonderful. Thanks for sharing your vacation with us! xo

Just caught up with your beach vacation posts, Doris, and looks like a great vacation. We had considered taking the ferry for the final part of our trip, but took a different road route instead. We are now in NJ and home in NH by the end of the week.

You had a wonderful time! I can't believe all the sand on the parking lot. And the look of joy and anticipation on Ellen's face is priceless.
