It was a Happy Easter and more

I started this post days ago and now it's Friday evening. How in the world can that be?? I'm a terrible blogger, I am. Determined to post before more days pass....

First things first ~

Around here you gotta find the Easter bags and basket. This year I hid clues in plastic eggs for a scavenger hunt for the three grandkids that live here. Not for Ellen though, I hid hers as usual. She's not one who enjoys change.

Two of the kids were already up and eating breakfast when I came upstairs to hide the clues! What was up with that? Guess they were anxious to start this special day.

Got them hid and the hunt was on.....

Digging through the coats and backpacks to find an egg.

Found! Reading the clue for the next egg.

Outside?? Yes.
On the doorstep!

In an egg carton!
Of course. ☺

Yes, in the bathroom...
under the sink!

And in the washer, the oven, the garage in a bike helmet....

Last clue sent them upstairs....

They found their bag in....
their beds!

Missed snapping a picture of Noah.

Meanwhile Ellen.....

Found her basket and plopped on her dad's legs to see what was inside it ☺

Next it was to church then home for a simple lunch
of ham in the crockpot and baked potatoes in the oven,
fresh fruit, veggies and dip, carrot cupcakes.

Gina was the only one of our kids,
other than the family that we live with,
that suited this year.

It was unexpectedly warm so we ate on the deck and porch.
No deck chairs because they are still stored -
Like I said, we didn't expect it to be nice outdoors.
Oh well, kitchen chairs to the rescue!

Some of us chose to eat in the screened porch.

Later Gina and I filled and hid some eggs while the kids
took a walk with their parents.

Pop Pop was enjoying the front porch.

The hunt is on....

Backyard....

Front yard....

Around the swings....
in bushes, flower beds, doors, rock walls....

They had fun!

Of course the next thing you do is see what's in them!

We also painted eggs, something we haven't done in a long time.

We had a great time!

Two dozen beautiful eggs!

Later Marcy, Scott and kids came over for awhile.
No pictures, not sure why I never thought of it =(

It was a very good day!

In other news.....

We have been seeing this big bird this week.

Early Monday morning I was hearing a turkey.
After awhile I decided it sounded like it was in our backyard.
Got up and looked,
it was in our backyard!!

We have often heard them/it
and have seen some from time to time.
But never in the backyard!

Spring is so beautiful!

I had to take a picture of this pretty tree.
Many of them are now dropping the flowers.

The tulips are past their prime
but the azaleas are getting ready to bloom.

And I've seen lilac's but not on my tiny bush =((
I must smell some lilac's.
Miss the big trees at our former home!

Wednesday was a busy day -

After taking Mommy to an appointment
we had some time to kill for fun.
To DQ we went...
he wanted strawberry.
It's my favorite too!

He enjoyed every bite!

At first he wanted to sit outside.
I thought it was too breezy but outside we went.
Five seconds was all it took
for him to decide that indoors was the place to be....
the sun was too bright!

I love this kid!

Later I took Ellen for her exercise
then home
then took Aidan to his baseball game
then back home because I was so hungry!!
then back to the game to watch our baseball player.

He bats...

He's the third baseman.....

And he pitches too!

He did so good.
So much fun to be there!
Oh, and his team won the game. Nice!

I need to end this. Ellen made dirt pudding today and I really want some ☺ And I need to get myself to bed in decent time tonight. Ellen and I have a big day tomorrow.....a bus trip to NYC! Been looking forward to this for a long time. Wish the weather would be a bit warmer (mid 50's and cloudy) but that's not something we can do anything about. At least it's not to rain, I think.

Thanks for hanging in. Too long between posts makes it too long! I'll try to do better. God bless you. Can you believe it's almost May??

I just posted my Easter too so we are two of a kind. Looks like you had the perfect day. I haven't dyed eggs for years. I should do that again.

Even though it was a while between posts, Doris, you always catch us up on what’s been going on with your family since the last time. We also did an egg hunt and egg coloring with the grands.
