Holiday Weekend

Our Holiday Weekend -
Saturday started with Ellen cheering at the Challenger football game....doing what she loves. Later in the day after taking her to work, Zoe, Aidan and I made GF carrot cake cupcakes. They measured and poured and ran the mixer. I pretty much supervised and filled the cupcake paper liners. We make a great team! Their parents went out to eat that night, a birthday gift for their mommy from her parents. We ate tacos at home, watched a movie and ate ice cream! Kids thought that was pretty cool :)

Sunday was a fellowship meal after the service at church. Everyone brings a hot and cold dish. I roasted tiny potatoes in the oven then put them into the crockpot to stay warm. They were really good! Of course we also took some carrot cupcakes too. They are amazing!! I love carrot cake.

After lunch we stopped at Dairy Queen to pick up an ice cream cake for Ellen. She needed to work at 3 (working because she is taking off on a Saturday soon to go to the beach), something she was not crazy about. To help her day seem better, we decided to continue her birthday celebration with a cake after she got home. Last week was just too busy to include the cake. We found the perfect cake!!

It's yellow, one of her favorite colors, and it's smiling!! She was thrilled!

My afternoon included spending time with my sister Mary Ellen and step mother Mary. There is always a family get together at my Uncle Earl and Aunt Irene's home on this Sunday. I love going. It was a smaller group this year but just as wonderful. I love this family....this is my Mother's family. Only two of the siblings are still living and I treasure spending time with them and my cousins. We are all getting older....

It was a beautiful afternoon for visiting outside!

Of course there was food!
And soft serve raspberry and vanilla ice cream! SO good!!

Even Barney made the group photo!

Before our evening was over.....

All went well at work and she was happy with the dessert waiting at home!
Happy Birthday to Ellen, again, 8 days later :)

Today was a getting things done at home day. Hubby took the opportunity to stretch out some lumps in the living room carpet.

I took the opportunity to get out some Fall decoration even though I'm not ready for Summer to end. Not ready at all!

The season is coming whether I'm ready for it or not.

Hope you all had an enjoyable weekend!

Waving "hi" to Ellen, pretty in yellow with a delicious and happy yellow cake! Your carrot cupcakes sound wonderful. I love the family photos. You know I love fall but I can understand you have a harsh winter soon to follow. Hope today is a good day. xoxo
