These Grands

Last evening Aidan had to show me his new skill. He said, Watch this, Nana!

He is quite pleased with himself!
I told him that now along with the handprints on the windows, I'll be cleaning footprints off the door frames!!

Last evening I did something I have not done in years.

Photo courtesy of my SIL, Nancy.
I picked beans! My brothers garden is still producing but they are finished with canning and freezing. So, my sister, Mary Ellen (on the left), invited me to join her in bean picking, tomato gathering and something else I will show you. Gina offered to come help too. It was a hot and humid evening but was still fun. How thrilling to have fresh beans!

My brother and his wife also have a row of beautiful sunflowers.

These colors are perfect for our dining room! I love them!

What beauty for the kitchen table! I have always loved sunflowers.

Today Zoe helped to make a treat. She was a bit sad to stay home while Mommy, Daddy and Aidan went to their rental property to do some work. Mommy was sure that Zoe would get too board as they worked. To help ease the sadness I suggested baking a cake. That did the trick.....so much so that Aidan almost decided to stay home too!

Baker Zoe is dressed for the occasion! She is really good at measuring and pouring.

We sit the measuring cup on the underside of the lid. That way it's easy to put the spills right back into the container!

After measuring and pouring, it's time for the mixer.

She carefully turns it on and helps scrape the bowl....when it's off! What a good little helper!

Then the l.o.n.g wait as it bakes and cools. She played with Barbies and had lunch, a banana and grilled cheese sandwich. Nana took care of baby Noah and made a salad.

He was all smiles just prior to this!

The wait is over......

Decorating the cake with red, white and blue sprinkles!

What do you think, Nana?, Baker Zoe asks.

Nana says, Good job, Baker Zoe!
Her smile says it all :)

After that, Baby needed fed and was sleepy. The Baker girl watched Winnie the Pooh. Nana was tired.

We kicked back and took a rest!

These kids light up my life.

All such cute pics! Sometimes Zoe reminds me of Greta. Do you ever think that?

That has to be the cutest cook ever! Her cake looks good too.
Tell Aidan not to try that climbing trick in a hallway. My son did that and his foot went through the drywall. :) We laugh about it now - then, not so much!

Even tho' we get weary, in the long run, it is all worth it, to get to spend some time with the little ones.

Don't you just love 'em??? I just love your centerpiece but I'm sure the "center" of attention are those darlings. Love the kitchen chef outfit there!
