It was so nice to get away for a few days. What a fun time! The weather wasn’t ‘sit on the beach’ kind of weather like we often have in later September. But this is 2020 when NOTHING is as usual 😁
Dale, Ellen and I left around 12:30 in the afternoon on Sunday for Wildwood, NJ. As we were getting to the Delaware Memorial Bridge traffic slowed to a crawl. Construction was happening on the bridge and lots and lots of other roads all merge together before actually getting to the bridge.
Only two lanes were open!!! No wonder the traffic was so backed up! After that it was smooth sailing all the way to Wildwood.
Decided to go to the boardwalk to find something to eat later that evening. Was very chilly and windy out there.
Again another completely unusual...
The boardwalk was nearly empty!
And many eating places were closed...
many for the season.
Ended up getting pizza for Dale and Ellen
and I just ate some things we brought along.
Monday
Still windy and rather chilly again.
We decided it was a good day to visit the zoo.
Cape May County Zoo
It’s free!
Farm animals, lions, buffalo, cheetah...
Masks needed to be worn.
Staff reminded people throughout the park.
Poster reminder too 😁
I love the zebras!
Posing with a zebra 😊
Always some beautiful flower gardens too
at this zoo.
Love the 9 1/2 !
We did a lot of walking on the boardwalk.
Walked to find some dinner
which we found here.
We actually ate inside...
We were the only ones there!
Dale had cheesesteak,
Ellen a meatball sandwich.
I had a salad with tuna salad on it.
It was delicious
and Ellen and I could only eat half
of our meals
We got two meals out of one...a win!
Windy walk after dinner!
Walked to the Wildwoods sign!
Ellen wanted ice cream at Kohrs Brothers
but I was finished walking.
I went back to the condo while they went
to the ice cream stand...
but it was closed!!
Our girl loves that ice cream
and we noticed that the one was open across
from the Wildwoods sign..
So being the good parents we are 😊
.......
We got into the van
and drove her there for some ice cream!
(We got some too)
It was yummy.
On the way back we went on a street
we were never on before.
How about those colorful light poles!
Stay tuned for the next post
to learn what other fun things we did.
This was the most unusual beach vacation
for us. Beach means beach for me.
Usually.
This time not so much!

Ellen looks so happy with her ice cream. Everything about this year has been so different. I'm sad some of the stores/restaurants were closed but it looks like you all had a good time. xo
This looks like a fun day! I love those lamp poles!
Finally catching up with all your blog posts! How do you do it, girl?
You are indeed good parents driving to get Ellen her ice cream! I love it!
