Two Wonderful Days

No picnic today. No family gatherings either. But a fun day anyway!

First I'll tell you about my day on Sunday.

The 4th Sunday is usually a Sunday I sing on the worship team at church. I didn't need to help this week so we took that rare opportunity to visit a church near us, Manor BIC. Been wanting to go there sometime ever since we moved 5 years ago. It's hard for Ellen to go somewhere new so we told her we would go to Scoops, a little sandwich and ice cream shop near us, for lunch. She was all for that! We went to the 10:30 service and totally enjoyed it. Ellen thought it was so different from our church....I didn't think it was all that different other than the praise and worship was much more subdued than at our church. I was blessed and challenged......that's important!

After a delicious lunch, including ice cream, we had a little time to relax before going to Ellen's baseball game. It was a hot one again but a breeze helped.

Ellen bats...
Oops, that one got away!

Got a hit!

Good job, Ellen!!

It's a joy watching these kids having a good time!

We went back home again.
Relaxed,
then Aidan really wanted someone to come over.

We put out the word to the family
to see if anyone could come.

Marcy, Scott and kids came.
We pulled a nice impromptu Holiday meal together.

Hamburgers made on the grill
Hot dogs made on a fire
Baked beans
Carrots, celery, dip
Chips
humus, salsa, chips
Brownies
Grapes, apples
S'mores!

It was a beautiful evening for eating on the porch and deck.

Cambrie had a hard time deciding where to sit....
first it was the porch, then the deck with her sisters.
No, that's not where she wanted to be either....
it was right beside mommy at the kitchen table.
Perfect!!
She's a cutie!
(took pictures of mommy and Cambrie but they aren't flattering of Marcy...
I won't embarrass her ☺)

These two told me they were having a serious conversation
 about laundry, ha ha!!

Roasting marshmallows for S'mores.
Perfect!!

This guy never does something halfway or ordinary,
his s'more consists of....
3 grahams
peanut butter cup
 2 marshmallows
Hershey's chocolate
brownie!

We had a fabulous time!

Today Gina had off so Ellen and I went to pick her up
and went to the outlets in Hershey.

First we stopped at a thrift store,
most of them were closed but this one was not.

Then to Red Robin for a late lunch.
It's been a long time since we had a day like this
since Gina now works second shift
Monday to Friday.

Our lunch was so good!

Ellen sits on the hamburger.
She said she was squishing it!

Then next door for some shopping....
Old Navy is a favorite.
A couple of shoe stores too.

Then to Grocery Outlet on the way back to Gina's home.

What a fun day!

Now the day is almost done.
Tomorrow Ellen and I meet with her job coach.
Hopefully Ellen can soon find a job that's a good fit for her.

It's hard.

Young adults with special needs are not typical employees.
Most places want the employees to perform all the tasks
 necessary for the position.
Of course.
But Ellen has a hard time with that.
Too many tasks overwhelm her.
Frustration results.

It's hard.

Looking forward to a special sister weekend coming up!

Taken last year.
We are praying for nice weather....
surely it won't sleet or snow this time, will it??

God bless your night with restful sleep. A new day awaits!

Sometimes the "non-planned" gatherings are the best ones! Looks like y'all had a great time. I giggled at the not showing the Marcy non-flattering picture. While we were babysitting Brooklyn, Tracy took the worst picture of me while I was eating a sandwich. I asked her didn't you see how bad I looked and she said she was focusing on Brooklyn, I thanked her for not posting it:) Enjoy your day dear friend, hope Ellen finds a job that's perfect for her! HUGS!

What a fun weekend! Glad you enjoyed the new church. I am amazed that you could pull a cookout together so quickly. That's a real talent!

Impromptu get togethers always seem to be the most fun and the s'mores looked great, especially Scott’s. Good luck to Ellen on a new job.
