Family, Food, Fireworks

July. Can you believe it's July? Summer is going by too quickly!

We attended the concert and fireworks in Long's Park on Sunday. This is a long standing tradition for our family.....28 years! Of course Dale and I didn't attend last year because we were in Maine. But the rest of our family was there.

This year we were fewer in number. Kim didn't come. She has a leg injury and is wearing a boot. It was just too hot...the boot and the weather! Marcy and Cambrie stayed home in the air conditioning too. Aunt Nancy came with us and the Byers family, friends from church, joined us. Usually there are lots of other friends of the kids that sit with us but not this year. The attendance in general seemed a bit down too. Usually by the time the fireworks start it's wall to wall people. This year we had extra space all around us!

We are all about celebrating the Red, White and Blue!
How about that headband Ellen is wearing!!

I debated on taking this table,
but am I ever glad we decided to bring it!
We could put out food and paper supplies.
The water jug and cups were so handy.
It worked and it will go with us again, for sure!

The canopy chairs were our friends until the sun went down past the tree line.
It was HOT!!

Enjoying the evening and being together.

Too cute!!

Carson and Noah climb on Lynn...

Boys having some fun!

Had to turn around to see this....
so worth it!

The concert was good
but it's kinda hard to get much out of it with so much going on around me.
And I wouldn't want it to be any other way!

The concert lasted until past 9 .....
everyone was waiting for Tchaikovsky's "1812 Overture",
complete with the boom of cannons.
It's wonderful!!

Then the best fireworks!

I think this one was a smiley face....upside down!
I didn't realize it till I saw the picture.
There was another one which was the right side up =)

Dale took Ellen to the car before the fireworks started.
The loud booms and the fireworks right over us
scares her tremendously.
I'm so glad she has agreed to come.
(She loves the food ☺)

Wishing you all a very pleasant and fun 4th!
We don't have big plans for the day and that's just fine.

I love that your family is close and does things together....that is the way it should be, and looks like your celebration was a success. We have a rainy 4th here in my hometown, so we wont be getting out today. I am just thankful for our country and what it stands for, and pray it wont be taken over by those that dont respect and love it as we do. Happy 4th!

Wow, we really, really missed being there with you. It was so lame to be watching from so far away. I hope we can work things out to be there next year. You really have the set-up with that table and the canopy chairs! I was surprised to see Ellen was there. Glad she could enjoy the fun and food before the fireworks. Bless Dale for leaving with her before they started. Also nice that Nancy could be there. Sorry about Kim's injury.
