November 5

Today I'm thankful for

Organizations who provide valuable services for those with special needs. Without their expertise, life would be a lot different for our special girl, Ellen.

Aaron's Acres

The new sign at Camp location.

Ellen loves attending Aaron's Acres Camp for two weeks in the Summer. She also is participating in the school year program doing fun things with her friends one Friday evening a month. This is a wonderful organization. We are so blessed to be part of it!

United Disabilities Services
Ellen participates in Cheering through this organization. Cheering is, hands down, her favorite!

LLESS
Lancaster Life and Employment Skills Service
This group is new to us. Through their staff person, Candy, Ellen is working on important life skills, community based and academic skills. She and Candy work together in cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, grocery shopping, going to the library, reading.....they even went bowling 2 times with another staff person and client. This is so wonderful for our girl!

Ellen and Candy work together. Ellen is now more comfortable working at the stove.

Making a dessert :)

Ellen washes the dishes too!

Fitness 4 Focus
Ellen really loves this one. One afternoon a week she heads to their gym and works out with a trainer for 45 minutes. She works hard!

usually stay in the van and read while she works out. On this day I decided to go in and watch the last 10 minutes or so.

Boxing with Shawn.
It's worth the money she pays for this!

Shreiber Pediatric Club 625
This one is new to us also. Several of her friends have been involved in Club 625 but because of Ellen's job, she could not.  Now that she isn't working she's able to participate. So far she's gone to a picnic, a corn maze and a dance. On Monday evening she will go to Sky Zone. She's never been there before but I'm sure she will enjoy it.

Two others that are instrumental in keeping needed services coordinated are BHDS and OVR
BHDS (Behavorial Health and Disability Services) been with us since Ellen was two years old. I am so thankful for their help especially now that Ellen is out of school.
OVR (Office of Vocational Rehab) is working with us to find employment again for Ellen.

Totally, totally blessed!

That's the nice thing about living in an area which does offer so many different types of services and opportunities and Ellen seems to be thriving as well.
