Saturday - Witmer Family Week-end

Saturday -
The afternoon was spent at Gretna Lake. It's been years since I've been there. I didn't plan on going into the water so I brought my Kindle to do some reading. I did read but I chatted a whole lot more!

The swing in the water provided a lot of fun for the brave souls!

I spent some time at this spot.
It was in the sun so I'd stay awhile then head to the shade.

Paityn and Aidan had fun in the sand.
(photo borrowed from Mary Ellen)

 Zoe had fun, too!

These next 3 photos I'm borrowing from Scott. Even though they are not the most flattering shots of me, I'm willing to post them because they show some fun our Little's had ....

Shhh, let's sneak up on Nana....

I'm just chomping away on my apple....

Gotcha, Nana!
I just LOVE those two =)

Zoe wanted to snuggle...
she took her blanket to, who else....
Pop Pop!
SO SWEET!

We had a delightful time. Everyone enjoyed the afternoon so much. But, the fun for the day was not over yet. An evening including dinner in the little grove behind our church was in the plans. My kids and I prepared the meal....pizza from Little Cesar's, veggies and dip, chips, cupcakes and brownies, watermelon and cantaloupe, s'mores, and ice cream. We set up dinner on the tables under the pavilion. We stared eating, we started feeling drops of rain...Oh No!! What to do? We decided we should head up the hill to our church to eat. So everyone grabbed something and up we went. Till Dale and I arrived to the church, tables were already set up for eating (I suspect it was Greta and Lynn who got that done). It was a good thing we moved to a dry spot because......

It poured.
We would have been as wet as drowned ducks =)

Food =)

Betty tries to decide what ice cream she wants
then has to decide what toppings to put on it.
It was all yum =)

Fun Domino's game with the young and the young at heart!

Chatting....
such a relaxing evening!

One thing that always happens at a big (as in when more than the PA folks get together) Witmer family gathering -

Uncle Scott, who is a wonderful musician
and does shows for kids in the New England area,
brings out the instruments and
the kids have a blast!

 Oh, Zoe,
the enthusiastic  drummer!

 Paityn shakes to the beat.

Aidan asked Scott when we were with them at Chocolate World
if he brought a guitar for him to play.
Yes,  he most certainly did!

Nana and Brinley

Was a delightful day. A fun day, too. But no s'mores =(

Hopefully another time we can gather in the grove, build a good fire (which we had before it rained!) and make those s'mores.

More about our Sunday next post.

I love looking at pictures and thinking about this weekend. If we don't find a place to "stay" for next year, I think we could just redo everything we did this year and still have a great time.

mount Gretna sure was fun even though I didn't get in the water either. My grandchildren had a good time. I had not been there either for a long time, it was good to see the relatives.

Jeanie, I agree! Maybe the Lord will bless us with a BIG house by then so we can 'put up' more family :)

Joanne, it was so nice of you to join us! Glad your Grandchildren had a good time.

Doris, almost didn't recognize you from the last time we met, the natural look becomes your hair. Your family does know how to have fun and share good times.

Saturday was a fun day - enjoyed your post.
The children were tired on Saturday evening, you can see Aidan's tired eyes as he played the guitar. The kids had fun anyway with Scott and his fun songs and his instruments.
