A Night to Shine

Last evening Ellen got to enjoy her second
Night to Shine prom.

(sponsored by Tim Tebow Foundation
 and held in 721 churches
all around the world!)

She has been looking forward to this night for so long!

All dressed up and ready to party!

This year she chose a dress that she can wear again.
She had the tights
but we had to buy everything else to go with it.

Shoes are usually a tough thing to find for her
because her feet are two different sizes.
I was so thrilled to find cute navy booties online
at Kohl's for a really good price.
Even more thrilled to have them fit!!

Here she is with a group of cheerleaders that helps
at Challenger Cheering.
Someone was taking a picture and told Ellen to get in it too.

We checked her coat then went to find her table and meet her buddy.
Each participant has a buddy for the whole evening.

Ellen and her buddy, Emily, sitting next to her.
Her friend, Emily, was also sitting at her table.
Wish I had gotten a picture of the two of them.

From there, Dale and I went to the parents lounge where we got dinner
and chatted with other parents.

We sat with Chris, the owner of Fitness 4 Focus
where Ellen goes for exercise each week.
We haven't seen him for quite awhile
since he has another trainer at the Lancaster gym,
so it was nice to catch up.

After dinner (which didn't have many GF options, sadly)
there was a concert given by Matt Goss and his wife
who's name I forget!
Matt is the worship pastor at LCBC,
a large group of churches in this area.
They are quite talented!

Then.....
there were gifts to be handed out.
Several raffle tickets were given to us when we entered
which could be put in a container
with each item if you wanted to try to get it.

I chose several items,
one was a Starbucks coffee collection, no surprise there!
Another one was a basket with Chick-Fil-A  items.
AND....

This.....
my number was pulled for this awesome prize!!

This is where we get our glasses.
This is where our daughter-in-law works....

Looks like I will be getting a new pair of glasses,
or Dale will,
or Ellen.

Nice!!

After all that we were able to go find our kids and mingle....
We found her in line for a photo!

That face when she first noticed us ☺

Ellen and her buddy!

Dancing the night away!

She also had ice cream at a special place away from the dance floor...
probably went there more than once!
And she had a trolley ride....
this year there was a trolley and several limo's.
She happened to get the trolley
which was ok but I think she would have rather had a limo.

We left after 10.....
Ellen does not leave early!

She will be dreaming all year about the next
Night to Shine prom!

Speaking about glasses....
on Saturday before going to Cambrie's birthday party
this happened as I was reading the newspaper!

I just pushed them up my nose and heard a crack!

Took the picture to send to Christy who was working
at the eye glasses place....
knowing that she couldn't really do anything about it
but maybe she could look if there would be a frame
that my lenses maybe could fit in ....

Christy sent a text back that said
she had at home a frame like mine but a different color.

WHAT??

Yep, some time ago she realized that my frame was discontinued
(it has been 5 years since I got it)
and they had one left so she brought it home
because she just had a feeling that I might need it!!

It's brown with blue and tans in it
instead of black with purple and green.
I don't wear browns with my gray hair
but it at least was a solution to going without!

Pic on left is the brown which I just took to show,
right is the black.
Black is better but the brown is very dark so it's ok.

But now I have that gift certificate I could use for another pair....
but Dale could use a new pair too so we will see.

Anyway, how cool is that?!!

Was going to tell you about my play date with two grandsons
but that will wait till another time.
This post is long enough!

Till next time,

The Lord be bless you and keep you;
the Lord make his face shine on you;
the Lord turn his face toward you
and give you peace.

Numbers 6: 24-26

I remember my Dad praying this over the church congregation many times
and I have always loved it!

I saw all your pictures of Ellen's prom night on facebook. Looks like she had a fantastic time. And congrats to you on winning a free pair of glasses. So glad you were able to get a replacement for your broken frames. When I broke mine and had to get an entire new pair.

Hooray for winning new glasses!
I have heard that benediction given many times too. I really like it too.

Looks like a wonderful time for Ellen and her teammates and friends. What a great surprise to win that certificate and then to have your frames break and to have you DIL just happen to have a spare frame.😀
