No closing today

The hot water heater was not replaced, we were told it was. We cannot close today. Maybe on Monday...
Totally disappointed. Waiting continues and I'll be ok.

Instead of doing a walk-through and celebrating, I'm doing laundry and cleaning bathrooms. That's life, I suppose :)

Blessings from a confident girl who knows she will be baking a chocolate cake with her Grands in that awesome kitchen some day soon!!

Snow Showers

Tuesday -
Snow showers pretty much all day.

Brave little blooms!
They are trying so hard to give us some color.

It kept snowing during the night, I guess...

Wednesday -

It was pretty....

But was so Cold and so Windy!!
It felt like January, not the end of March.

Thursday -
We prepare for closing on our new home, which is scheduled for tomorrow!!
The septic tank replacement is completed. The company had to make a way to the back yard where there was not a way. Now that the project is finished, they wanted to know if they should put it back to the way it was. I went to the house this morning to take pictures to send to Corey and Christy so we could say Yes or No. On the way to the house, I met up with a big tractor and trailer backing up in the winding private road to the house.....wow, I would not have wanted to be that driver!! It was coming to "our" house to pick up this big piece of equipment.

They had cleared brush and poured some dirt by the side of the garage to get to the back yard. I took some pics, sent them and gave my opinion. I think we should let it be. They helped us by clearing the area that we would have wanted to add steps (or something) anyway. Dale will have his workshop in part of the unfinished basement. The doors to the area are under the deck...this will be a nice start to better access. Cool! Thanks, guys!

I'll be posting more pictures after we take ownership. We are SO excited! Been a long time coming. God truly had a great home for us, we just had to wait =)

Blessings!

Uh, where did Spring go?? And, a fun shopping trip.

Spring has come...and gone, so it seems! Winter has a strong grip this year. Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow. Not much snow, thank goodness! It's almost the end of March, no blooms here yet =(

Ellen had a fun time on Saturday with her friends. Our March activity included pizza at Infinito's across from the mall (it's a pizza buffet...Ellen loves pizza!), then shopping at the mall. They had so much fun. I didn't have my camera again, so it's fuzzy phone pics, again.

First stop was FYE... Bri's favorite store. Ellen found two movies she wanted.
Next stop, Claire's.... Emily's favorite store. Ellen found two new headbands.
Vera Bradley store was next - No purchase there but it was fun looking =)

Ellen loved looking at all the wallets and accessories.

Elizabeth and her Mom take a look...
this is Elizabeth favorite store.
Behind them are Sarenah and her Mom

Our last stop was the bookstore. What fun they had there!

Looking at interesting stuff, er, treasures!
from R - L-
Nicole, Emily and her Mom, Elizabeth's Mom

Nicole says,Uh, what's this?

It's a cute pig...
that squeals/squeaks. I guess you could call it that.
The sound was very similar to the noise of a whoopee cushion =)

Ellen laughs and laughs!
Bri's Mom in the background.

I don't think I ever heard Emily laugh so hard!
She was really getting a kick out of those pigs!!
So much fun!!

Everyone headed home except Ellen and me. We had some clothes shopping to do. Ellen needed new jeans. We found some and a very cute dress for the IU Prom!! The prom is in May.

Take care! Stay warm! Spring is here! (sorta)

A New Idea

We have a lot of stuff to get rid of. Stuff in the attic, basement, and the barn. Lots of stuff.

Many years ago we bought 2 church benches (pews, but we always called them benches) from the Mennonite church I grew up in. They are really, really old and very uncomfortable to sit on for long periods of time. I know. I sat on them from a tiny tot until after having my first child.

We have never done anything with them. We thought of making one of them shorter and placing it on the back porch. That would have looked wonderful. But, life got in the way and we never got it accomplished.

Now we are moving sometime in the next few months, hopefully. We don't have room for 2 long, uncomfortable church benches. I'm rather sad about that.

Today while cruising through Pinterest, I found this....

Hmmm, I wonder if Hubs will go along with my new idea?? Kinda cool though, don't you think?

Bless you today!

Highlights of my week

It's been almost a week since I posted. Let me highlight a few happenings from around here.....

I had a birthday on Thursday! Starting a new decade, I am. 60 years of age. Thursday was a normal day for me....Except...I warned my family that I wasn't going to cook a meal that day...there needs to be a limit, haha! So many of our kids were working, so just the family who lives with us (minus Gina who was working) ate at Lititz Family Cupboard. We ordered the buffet, yum! Was so good!

It was a good day in spite of the weather...COLD and windy. It didn't get out of the 20's. Brrr.

That's how cold it was!

I was blessed with thoughtful gifts -

Flowers from Hubby
(I just threw out the Valentine's flowers a few days before...
they lasted that long...most of them!)

Roses from Gina

How cute is this?!!
From Greta and Lynn
Greta said when she saw it, she knew she had to get for me =)
Describes us perfectly!

Aidan made me a bracelet...
Love it!

Saturday I did some cleaning, took Zoe to a birthday party of a friend and then went shopping with Gina and Ellen.

Sunday was church, then a family dinner at Outback. It suited everyone but Kim's hubby Manny and son Andrew (they were working), and Laurencia and her family who live in Baltimore. We had such a good time! The little ones did awesome and our server did a wonderful job taking care of us.....all 15 of us!

Kim helps Paityn figure out a puzzle in the kids booklet
Outback gives them.

Ellen poses for me =)

After lunch, some of the family gathered here.

I read books to the kids -
I didn't know Marcy took this till I saw it posted on Facebook.
I was reading a favorite book called
WHAT? said Granny!
We love that silly book.

Aidan had some reading to do for school.
He read to Andrew and Paityn ♥

It was such a good day. I love my family SO much!

This is what we woke to this morning -

White.
A 2 hour delay for the schools.
On a Monday morning, that suits us!
Will this be the last time for snow this year??

We have another date for settlement for the house....March 28. Yeah!  Can't wait.

Enjoy your Monday....Spring will soon be here! Yes it will.

A few signs of Spring

Spring has come to the Fahnestock house

A touch of Spring on the dining room table.....

...and on a kitchen shelf.

Spring on the front door ♥

We will have tulips
one way or another =)

Lookie here!!
Spring will come!

**********************************************

On Sunday afternoon we went to see the house we hope to soon call ours. The septic tank has yet to be replaced, settlement date yet to be determined. Waiting is sooooo hard!!

I love this!
Love the staircase.
Love the family room.
Love the fireplace!!
Love the loft.

This home is all I could have wished for
and more!

Please, Lord, soon??

***********************************************************

Today is our daughter Marcy's birthday! Happy Birthday to Marcy!

Marcy with her two little girls.

I continue to clean out more stuff. Working in the study....... trying to start out being more organized when we get to our new home! It's a goal, anyway =)

Happy Tuesday to you!

Happy, Happy, Happy!

No, not Duck Dynasty happy (I've never watched that show),
but....
 this kind of Happy.....

Clinique Happy!

Several years ago I wore this fragrance and loved it. Yesterday I was shopping at Boscov's, using a gift card Gina gave me for Christmas. I treated myself to some Happy! I get a whiff of it from my wrist and it makes me smile.

That baby doll in the background is one that none of my children have ever played with. I played with it as a child. Two single ladies from my church would babysit for us from time to time when my preacher daddy and my mother needed to attend meetings or whatever. I loved this baby doll! I bought her at their estate auction many years ago. It's a treasure! I was told the dress she is wearing was one of the last things their mother made before she died. Yes, she is a treasure!

Bless you today!

What's Up?

Here's what's happening at the Fahnestock house.....

  • Still waiting.... for our new home. The septic tank is going to be replaced before settlement. Maybe by the end of next week it will be ours?? Hope so.
  • I was just looking at pictures of our new house from the listing. I will never tire of doing that. I still pinch myself because it doesn't seem real  =)
Inside those windows -
the garage, the laundry room, the family room,
the foyer behind the front door,
the living room, the master bedroom above the living room =)

  • Sunday I had a sore throat. It wasn't bad, just enough to make me feel very tired and lazy. So I decided to give in and be lazy. I slept lots that day!
  • Monday I felt better. Just have a stuffy nose and I sneeze a lot.
  • We were to have lots of snow starting Sunday afternoon. We ended up with a dusting! Fine by me.
  • Today is one of those days....so much to do. So far I went to Hilltop Market, filled my car with gas, put away the groceries (including dividing that 10 lb. bag of ground beef into smaller packs), picked up Zoe at pre-school, catching up on blog reading...and more, but I can't remember what else I did!!
  • As I filled up my car with gas and having just come from getting a few groceries, the thought that went through my head was this...it surely does not take long to zip through $100!!
  • Everyone ought to have a Zoe in their life. She just came to me here in the study, snuggled up to me and said, I love you, in the sweetest voice =) I love that girl!!
  • Last evening Aidan read his newest journal to me. He brought it home from school last week. Love it! He drew pictures to go with each entry. For many of them, he would say, Oh, I like this one! This entry got a chuckle out of all of us.... My Mom is like Abe Lincoln. She is skinny. My Mom is like George Washington. She is old. Yes, he wrote that!!
  • I don't watch Dr. Oz very often because he's on when I'm busy making dinner. Yesterday I caught a little bit of the show...just enough to hear what one can do to lower cholesterol. He said eating an orange a day will help. I can do that! (if I remember, HAHAHA!!) I was going to eat an orange last evening after dinner but didn't remember till bedtime. good grief.
  • I'm enjoying the NBC show, The Voice. Wow, great talent!
  • Zoe is waiting to be on the computer. Yes, we share our one and only computer with a 4 and 5 year old!
Bless you this cold Tuesday! Warmer weather on the way for us later this week. I've heard the number 50 mentioned in the forecast. Whoo-Hoo!!
