Good News, Good, Good News!

Yes, we have some Good news to share........

Our daughter Greta and her hubby Lynn Good

June 9, 2012

are having a baby!! The little Good will arrive in August. We are over the moon with excitement!

It was soooo hard to keep this little secret. I wanted to spill the beans many times. I didn't. Yeah me, haha!

The other good news....
We have a house!! The house we saw last Sunday will be ours if the home inspection goes good. We don't expect to find anything wrong. It's a lovely house. It will fit all 8 of us comfortably...Dale will need to put another bedroom somewhere, probably in the basement. As things move forward, I'll post pictures.

It still does not seem real. We have been looking for a home for 2 years. The fun and rather overwhelming piece is yet to be....selling this house! Fun, I hope so. Overwhelming, oh my goodness.

Bless you this day! Stay warm....we are trying, as well.

Good Grief, it's Cold! (too cold for a clever title)

If you don't hear from me for a week or two, it could be because I'm under the covers and I'm not coming out till spring. Could be!

Cold, snow, wind, cold, snow.....no school (MLK day), no school (snow), no school (snow, wind, cold), 2 hour delay today (at least they went!), no school (scheduled in-service day).....this is our week!

Our kids will be in school till the middle of June, for sure.

Anyway, one cannot deny the beauty of the great outdoors this time of year. I did not adventure too far from the door.

Tuesday, a day of snow....

Snowing....

and blowing.

Wednesday.....

Blues skies, but bitter cold!

Dale helped his boss clear snow in a neighborhood not far from here, starting at midnight Tuesday night into the early hours of Wednesday morning. He said he was warm enough, but the bottle of Propel he had inside his jacket in a shirt pocket had ice in it when he was finished! No kidding!

Christy  and I are going to venture to a grocery store this morning. We are so in need of groceries!!

I hope to have some good news to share soon. We put an offer on a house, it was rejected, we countered and now we wait. We won't counter again. So, if this is our house, it will be accepted. If not, we continue to look. Saying many prayers these days! Also, praising my God in the wait...because it's the right thing to do!

Bless you today, my friends. Stay warm!

January's march....

January is marching along...not as fast as I'd like it too, but, marching it is! It's not a secret that I do not like January. It's such a blah month compared to the festivities of the previous month. That's my opinion...so happy not everyone shares it!!

No school today. We are having a good day. Aidan asked me to watch a movie with them. How could I refuse that request? even though it was a monster movie....not my favorite =) He assured me that the Monster was a great guitar player and he couldn't help but dance when he and his Dad and sister had a movie night on Saturday. The movie was Monster in Paris (or something like that) and it was really good!

The are now playing and playing and just had a snack. I love these kids!

I also love these two....

Brinley Hope, you cutie!

They have my heart ♥

We watched the  football games at Marcy and Scott's house.
It's always a good time when we are together!

Saturday was a lazier day for us. Dale and I went to my sister Mary Ellen's house in the mornig. She needed Dale to hang a piece of art. I did some cleaning in the afternoon. We later went to see Dale's sister and mother. From there were were planning to go to Outback for dinner. I tried calling ahead, but to my dismay, they had a 1 1/2 hour wait time and weren't even taking call ahead for about an hour! I tried calling Chili's. Kept getting a busy signal. When I did get through, it was the same story as Outback. And I also tried JB Dawson's....same song and dance! Soooo, I tried TGI Friday's. At first they said a 2 hour wait time but while I was still on the phone,  the fella on the other end said it would be a 30 minute wait! Yes! I called Gina who was waiting at work for Kim to pick her up to tell them to head around the corner to the other side of the mall for Friday's. We had a great time and a delicious dinner even though it was a challenge to find a table. The busyness around Lancaster had to do with a HUGE girls volleyball tournament.

While we waited for our table, we decided to go see Christy at work (at the mall). Ellen tried on glasses.....

She LOVED these!
Yellow is her favorite color.
She tried on others. but came back to this pair every time!

She liked these, too.

Ellen will be getting a new pair of glasses
but we will have to go back to do some serious looking another time.
It's always so much fun to try new frames!

We walked through a home yesterday. We really liked it! I thought we would ♥  It's one I had my eye on for some time.

We are to be getting snow tomorrow. Fun. (as long as I don't need to be out in it!!)

Blessings to you today! Stay warm and dry!

What's Happening at the Fahnestock House?

Here's what's happening at the Fahnestock's -

  • Paityn gave me this mug for Christmas. I LOVE it!

Maybe we will have to find one that says Pop Pop....
especially since Pop Pop broke another mug on Sunday =)

  • It snowed (again) Friday morning. We were to get a dusting to an inch. It was more than that!

It stopped snowing late morning.
By afternoon the roads were clear.

  •  Renovated bedroom is now occupied!
Dale and Corey went to Corey and Christy's Mt. Joy house to load up the bedroom furniture Saturday morning. It was a very rainy day. And with all the snow, it was a sloppy mess! But they got it done =)

Dressers in the family room...
nice excuse to not clean!

Mattresses in the trailer, waiting till the beds were set up.

Corey and Chrsity are deciding where to put the beds.
They are all sleeping in this room for now.
Don't feel sorry for them,
they are all thrilled to have BEDS again!!
Isn't the rug neat?
Christy found it at Ollie's.

I
We watched a horse movie while
their Daddy was busy setting up the beds.
Snacks and a movie on a rainy Saturday,
nice!

  • We went to see a house on Sunday. Oh my. We knew it would need work. Yes indeed, it does! Not sure this one will be our next home. More homes are starting to come on the market. So far, none that seem to fit our needs. Waiting is hard.
  • After experiencing temps below 0 last week, this week, so far, has seen high 40's. What a switch! Today is rainy again. Tomorrows forecast says something about the white stuff and more rain. I'm hoping for all rain. I have a scheduled hair cut tomorrow. A hair cut always brightens my day!
  • Today I did some bargain shopping. I stopped in at Ollie's to see what they had. I needed to use my new debit card that I got in the mail just yesterday and the one that I had changed the pin # (just yesterday). You guessed it, I couldn't remember the pin!! Thank goodness it could go through as credit....the lady behind me had to giggle! I remembered it by the next stop. But, I bet that may happen again. The new card came because of the Target issue. The bank suggested changing the pin as well. I did, but the old one, I had forever.......this old girl can learn new numbers, this old girl can learn new numbers, this old girl can....if I say it enough it will be so =)
  • I also stopped at a thrift store. Found a yellow shower curtain. Do you know how hard it is to find yellow?? I ended up buying a cheap one, blue, not yellow, at Ollie's last year because I gave up on yellow. Now, when that one wears out, I'll have one, a yellow one, to replace it!!
So there you have it. Blessing to you on this Tuesday! I must get moving on dinner for my hungry bunch. It's unstuffed cabbage rolls tonight...and something else for those who do not care for cabbage.

Pictures

While I'm at the desk and Zoe is entertaining herself with PBS shows, I'll post some pictures. (Corey fixed the hiccup) Yes, and while I'm still all cozy in my bathrobe...this crazy weather makes it difficult to feel like getting dressed!

On Thursday before it started to snow,
I could see the mountain range turning white.

A beautiful world on Friday!
I waited till the wind died down before venturing out to snap pictures.

Snow blew up onto the porch!

Such a bitterly cold and windy day!
The kids didn't have school.
We stayed in and tried to stay warm.

This gift from Greta and Lynn
helped the house feel a bit cozier ♥

Some pictures from New Years Eve
 at Marcy and Scott's house........

Miss Brinley got into Nonny's purse,
AGAIN!
At least she knows where lipstick should go =)

We had so much food!

Zoe styles Pop Pop's hair ☺

The day before Christmas, Mary Ellen came to give Aidan and Zoe a small gift.

Zoe unwrapped some ornaments with the names
of some of the family.

Aidan unwrapped a slinky.

Mary Ellen helps Zoe hang the candy canes.
They also had a blast playing with the slinky on the stairs!

After Christmas, I promised Ellen a trip to
Build a Bear at the mall.
She had her eye on a white cat for some time.

She LOVES her cat!

No pictures to share of this...Saturday morning we met Beatrice and Grenville (Pat and Dorothy) at the Brickhouse, in town, for coffee. They are the authors of the Frog and PenguiNN blog listed on my sidebar, and were in town to visit their daughter and son-in-law. It's always a treat to spend time with them! Already looking forward to the next time, my friends.

The room is almost ready for occupancy =)

 Wow!
Look at that floor =)
That's a picture of a lot of hard work!!
I'm also excited for all the added outlets in this room.
There were only two.

Looking out the window where there wasn't any.
Nice!

Nothing new on the horizon as far as our moving is concerned. There aren't any houses out there right now that we would be interested in. We'll wait to see what comes on the market in the next several months. It does really feel wonderful to be able to seriously consider something now that Corey and Christy's house will be rented. We want to make a few more upgrades to our home and then list....most likely after we find a home to move to. Our house is too full to even consider showings right now! Of course, if there is anyone out there that would like to express interest now, we would be ok with that...just saying =)

Time to get moving with my day. I have been busy as I've been working on this post. Laundry put away, laundry in the washer, more Christmas things moved to the attic steps (will take them up before it gets bitterly cold again!), and I now look better that the sleepy bed-head that started this!

Blessings to you today! Stay warm!

No pictures - yet

I took pictures of the snow.

I came to the computer to upload them to post.

Nope, still isn't working for me. [sigh]

I'll have to wait for my very intelligent son to get home and do whatever he did 2 days ago to make them load.

Anyway, it is cold around here. And snowy. And it was blowy today too. The wind has died down, which is a plus. But, where the sun helped melt the snow on the roads today, it's now freezing. God Bless the State and Township road crews who have been hard at work since yesterday.

Dinner is in the oven and it smells yummy. Ham, potatoes (red and yams) and left over green beans.

Bless you! Stay warm!
