Busy cleaning....

I've been a busy girl these last several weeks. I've been going through closets and cleaning out places I've not gotten to for a long while. Feels good! I've donated several boxes of books (that's a tough one for me!), clothes, toys and a few more kitchen items. Today I work in the kitchen.

Funny thing about cleaning....it's not a once and done, is it? That said, I need to get at it again.....

Have a wonderful day! (start the music, grab a trash bag, bucket of soapy water, rag, the vacuum cleaner, window cleaner, paper towels.....here we go!)

Scott enjoys life to the fullest.
It's good to have him be part of this family....
the cares of life can tend to weigh us down.
But if you have a guy like Scott around,
it's much easier to remember to
Lighten up!!
Life is full of great times meant to be enjoyed.

Thanks, Scott, for loving our daughter
and
for being such a wonderful support to her.

Oh, and thanks for those two
Granddaughters you and Marcy have given us!

Happy Birthday to a very special Scott Smith!
Love you lots!

03/25/2013

It's a winter wonderland out there today.

Snow continues. School is in session in this county. After the last big storm that didn't happen and school was canceled, this time there wasn't even a delay. So far the roads are ok. A good thing since I do need to go out.

Have a great day! Bundle up, stay warm =)

I Love Color!

I love a pretty sky. When I saw some pink beginning to show this morning, I had to get the camera....

Of course, I had to take a picture of the mountains.
They were really white this morning.

The other day I was surprised to see this -

Just look at that, it's a color other than brown!!

I also was surprised by this -

How about that, another color is trying to show!
Soon, I hope.

Wishing you a blessed day!

Cleaning, Cold, Chinese

Cleaning -
I spent the entire day cleaning. I'm disappointed that I didn't get more completed....my expectation of what I can accomplish in a day is always too high! I also did a couple loads of laundry. That is all folded and put away. Because of my hard work, we have two very clean bedrooms and clean sheets to welcome the tired occupants tonight. One of those beds is mine =) You figured that it would be, didn't you?

Cold -
Oh my word, it is so cold today. I was busy inside all day and didn't realize how cold until this evening. Where in the world is Spring?? Please pay us a visit!
This morning my sister Jean flew from her home in State College, PA to her daughter's home in Florida. Jean said her car had snow on it and the plane needed to be de-iced before take off. She just posted a poolside pic on Facebook.......I would be lying if I said I wasn't a bit envious...........

Chinese -
Because I was so busy today, Gina offered to pay for a meal from China One for us. Why would I refuse that?!! I ordered pizza for Dale and Ellen, Gina and I shared a General Tso's Chicken.  YUM! Clean up is a breeze tonight!

I am one tired lady this evening. A cup of coffee and a blanket will be my friend on this very cold winter...oops! I mean SPRING evening. The only way we can tell it really is spring is the daylight skies at almost 7 pm!

Blessings!

Oh what a difference a day can make!

Yesterday -

It was to start snowing in the morning but didn't do a thing till about 4:00.
It snowed and made the roads a lot more slick around here than predicted.
We had a little excitement on our hill...
a Jeep landed on it's side probably from sliding into the bank along the road.
Everyone arrived safely to our home, late but safe!

Today -

After fog and a bit of rain this morning
we now have beautiful sunny blue skies....

and
lots of slop!!
Not a good day to wear Crocs....
where was head this morning?!!

Oh, what a difference a day can make!

Spring is just around the Corner

That's what the calendar says. In reality, it's not anywhere near here.

Saturday -

We really don't need any more of this stuff. Guess what, we are to get more today and again another day this week. One good thing about snow this time of year, it doesn't stick around.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Aidan and Zoe had an over night here at Nana and Pop Pop's Saturday. What do we do for fun? Bake cupcakes, of course!
 They measured, they poured, they lined the tins with cupcake papers.
It was soooo hard to wait for them to bake and then cool.
These are really good, Nana!
Everyone enjoyed them yesterday at our usual family Sunday gathering of the Fahnestock bunch!
The daffodils on my header is a reminder (to me) that
Spring is coming. Yes it is!
Ice Age, Prom, Weather
Aidan and Zoe love the Ice Age movies....so do I! We were just a giggling mess a while ago =)
They love it when I giggle with them. I may be busy doing other things but I'm watching with them too. We love to laugh!
The movie is over and Aidan dances to the music......
Ellen just came home from school. She brought a paper to fill out for the IU Prom. We didn't know she was going to be able to go until this week. (her class is no longer part of the IU). Her teacher had contacted the Prom committee to ask if her students could be invited. So grateful for her pursuing this. I had just told Ellen last week that she may not be able to go this year. She handled the news very graciously. This Prom had been the highlight of her school year since 5th grade. Guess we will need to go fancy dress shopping!
Our weather here in southeast PA continues to be cold. Today it's party cloudy and cool. I don't know what it is about this weather, but I blame my headaches on it! I don't have them often but on days like today, days when the temp changes more than a few degrees or rain is coming (rain and some snow is forecasted for tomorrow), I get a headache. Annoying but I think I will live =)
Another week is almost over. Aidan and Zoe will be spending the day and night tomorrow. Corey is planning to paint at their house and Aidan should not be there. They are looking forward to their sleepover!
Blessings to you today!
Special Day
It was a special day yesterday. It was my birthday! The only thing planned for the day was a meeting at Ellen's school. After the meeting, I shopped for a few groceries, came home. Greta was here! She told me she would stop in after a dentist appointment. We had a wonderful, wonderful time chatting. She also brought a gift =)
On Tuesday another gift came for me. Gina ordered this bag from 31. All the kids had a part in it....
The robe is from Greta.
She knows my favorite color =)
Isn't this bag just the cutest?!!
I had planned to make dinner as usual. Was I crazy? You bet....I ordered takeout =) The rest of the evening was spent on the sofa with a warm blanket and a cuppa decaf. About the only thing I accomplished for the day was washing the dishes. And I didn't feel guilty at all.
Today, this is a different day altogether!! I have some making up to do following my non-productive day. Oh boy, it's time to get busy...have a great day, my friends!
Happy Birthday, Marcy!
On Marcy 11, 1977 we became parents to our second little girl. We were thrilled! Her birth was so easy and I went home the day after she was born......very unusual for that time!
 3 years old
 Another birthday but I'm not sure what year!
She always enjoyed teddy bears more than dolls.
Marcy's high school graduation.
Marcy is first one on the right
She's a wonderful Mommy to Paityn...
Marcy made Paityn's doll cake!
She's also a wonderful Mommy to Brinley.
Her little girls keep her very busy!
Marcy has a sweet spirit and is an inspiration to all who know her. What an amazing woman she is...I am blessed to be her Mom!
Happy Birthday, Marcy! We love you!!
The Snowstorm
It's a storm that's not happening, so it seems.Yesterday they upped the amount to an expected 8 inches. Where is that snow??
 The schools are closed. A few flakes appear at times but it's mostly rain. Nasty, cold rain. Looks like the kids will be making up a rain day that was to be a snow day!
 I'll try to find the motivation to do what I had planned for today. But it's mighty tempting to grab my Kindle and a blanket...........
Random Post .....
.....Because it's that kind of day.
  • Take a look at our sky today......
I ask you, does this sky look like a snow storm is on it's way? It's a beautiful day. The weather man tells me it may snow up to 6 inches tomorrow. In fact, could start later today. Guess we shall see. I do remember many a snow storm that came with a vengeance after a beautiful, sunny, and "warm" day.
  • Aidan and Zoe will soon be here. I haven't kept them often on Tuesday's lately. Yesterday when it was time to go home, Zoe told her Daddy, "wait wait! I need to give Nana a hug and kiss!"  Then Pop Pop wanted one. She threw her arms around him and said "I love you, Pop Pop". Melt our hearts! That girl is such a sweetie.
  • Yesterday while I was busy making dinner, Aidan started crying. Zoe had bit him. Yes, sweet Zoe will do that sometimes. I asked her to come to me. She did. And she told me what she did....her big eyes staring up at me. (I guess Aidan was singing with Zoe and she was not happy about it) She needed a time out and went to the chair willingly. I had to stifle a chuckle when Aidan told me he thought giving Zoe a time out was good. It made him happy, he said.. And the hurt hand stopped hurting, just like that!! Kids!
  • I ate - no, I drank breakfast at lunch today. On my way home from taking Gina to work this morning, I made some stops. All of a sudden I felt so hungry. I realized that I never made my smoothie this morning! But after getting home, I just keep going...washed the dishes, put away the groceries, started dinner. Finally, I couldn't stand it no more ;-) I had breakfast even though it was lunch time.
  • Dinner is smelling yummy! I have a roast in the crock pot. mmmm
  • Aidan had some med changes to better cover his asthma. (a result of the specialist visit last week) He will be having an overnight here when they paint the trim in Zoe's room, possibly this week end.
  • We didn't hear any feedback from the house showing on Friday. We are still praying for the right buyer to come along. I struggle with wondering if this will ever happen. Trying not to lose hope.
  • Oh, look what some birds did to my car!
This mess is all over the back window, trunk, roof!! Lately we have had so much rain...but not when I could  really use it to wash this off my car. It's to snow, but I think I will use a bucket of water to slosh over it....it's too cold to get my hands wet out doors. I have enough trouble with chapped fingers!
  • Last week when I was looking for this -
A kids booster seat that we had for our kids,
which I didn't find that day....
I thought maybe we didn't have it anymore after all.....
instead, I found this -
I didn't know we still had it!
Our twins had loads of fun with this toy.
I thought our Grandchildren may really enjoy playing with it too.
(it had been stored in a small room in our basement that I never go into....
it's dark, dirty and probably a home for many spiders!!!
Hubs found the booster seat for me. (which Aidan and Zoe each wanted to use at the table last evening! We did have 2 but one got broken. They were used hard with 6 kids!) He cleaned them on Saturday. Yes, the kids are having some fun with the laundry set. If they decide they had enough fun and it sits abandoned, off to a thrift shop it will go. That's how I roll these downsizing days =)
  • All this talk of snow and look what I see in my flower beds -
Spring is just around the corner!
Bah Humbug, snow!!
Have a great day. If your day is random, go with the flow....you will be happier for it =)
