Family and More Family

This past week end was spent with family....lots of family. About 45 or more Witmer's (my sibs and their kids and Grands) gathered at an old elementary school turned into a retreat center in York County for our annual gathering. It's a highlight of our year. I will post only a few pictures now because our family time continues tonight at my step Mother's home....my sibs and Mary's children are eating dinner together tonight.

My family provided the meal for Saturday evening.....

Christy hard at work....
what are those men in the background doing???

Yep, that's what I thought ;-)

Kim and Marcy set up the food line.
We had to keep moving the food down and down
to make room for more and more.
We had a big meal!

That's one big kettle of meatballs!

Sweet Zoe enjoys her meal.

Lots of hungry Witmer's!

We finished our meal with soft vanilla ice cream with lots of topping choices. Lynn's parents graciously allowed us to borrow their IC maker. What a yummy way to end a day =)

Frown to Smiles

Zoe came to me fussing about her feet. I told her she should put on her shoes. I think she had stubbed her toe on something.

So, off she went to put on some shoes.......

All smiles!

Ahhhh, I'm sitting =)

I'm still alive, I'm still kicking......just not as high =) There was a sweet resident at the nursing home where I worked that always said that. It made me smile every time. Still does.

Didn't sit much today other than in a car....feels good to sit with my feet propped up, even if it's only for a short time.

Am very behind in blogging. I have 3 birthday people to highlight. I'll get to it..........

Extremely busy....
  •  Ellen has camp this week and next. Two trips to Lancaster each day. (45 min, at least, round trip plus wait time when we get there and wait time when I pick her up) Not getting a whole lot done at home!
  • BIG family week-end coming up. Food to make. Food to purchase. (I was at 3 grocery stores today) My kids and I will feed the bunch of hungry Witmer's on Saturday evening. 40-45 of them! It takes a lot of food! Boxes and bags every where!
  • Laundry and lots of packing to do....have to take bedding and towels. Not staying at a hotel!
  • Babysitting 3 days this week as usual.
  • Sunday night and Monday sister time! Mary Ellen was 65 in May. She really wanted some sister time for her birthday. Couldn't make it work except for when the family retreat was happening. So, Mary Ellen from PA, Jeanie from PA, Barb from ID, Betty from NH and I are staying at a hotel Sunday night. Sadly, Rose from GA has to get back home and will not be able to join us. We always have the best times when together!
Time to make dinner....really, it's past time but, better late than never! Corn on the cob and Chicken Cordon Bleu (the frozen, ready for the oven kind) on the menu tonight.

Blessings to you.......

Trains and Grands Day

Fun day yesterday with Aidan, Paityn and Zoe. Ellen loves trains too, so of course she had a fun day too!

First stop: Stasburg Railroad -

We made it just in time for the 1:00 train.

The conductor asked Aidan what it said on his shirt...
so Aidan showed him.
It says Rad =)

We made it to Paradise....
now it's time for the engine to take us back to Strasburg.

Is someone getting tired already?

(and my camera battery died..thank God for my phone camera!)

Time for a snack and some looking.

They sat in an Amish buggy!
Aidan wanted to be sure it wouldn't go anywhere =)

Ahhh, wonderful!
Time to head to the next train stop.....

Next stop: Choo Choo Barn -

I loved this place as a kid.
We had been there with our older kids too.
Wasn't even sure it was still in business until a short time ago.

We loved this train place!!

Everybody from this area knows what that building represents...
Dutch Wonderland!
Aidan really wants to go there.
I told him maybe next year for Grands Day =)

Yep, they are just loving this!

Aidan and Ellen wanted to go through it again.
So Pop Pop went with them and
Nana stayed with Zoe and Paityn.
We visited the gift shop....

Zoe loved these!

Paityn looked at books.

And tried on hats.

We went outside to play on this little train.

After a looonnnngggg time,
Pop Pop, Aidan, and Ellen were finished!!

We found this train table near the Thomas Train shop.
They loved it!

They had fun on this little ride too!

Next stop: Chick-fil-a!!
We were HUNGRY!!

This quick food place is soooo family friendly. The management and staff set the tone and everyone follows. The kids are happy, the parents are happy, because.... you truly are treated like a guest! Talk about feeling valued!

Excited face =)

Paityn watching some kids play
while we eat.

Looks like Aidan ate his chicken nuggets....

It's time to play!

Then, time for ice cream
and
Home!

As we were getting ready to leave, I noticed my Aunt Alma and cousin Joanne come in.
How sweet to have a quick chat with them!

Sweet tired Zoe.

Paityn gave in to her tired eyes too.

But this young man declared
he was NOT tired!
He didn't sleep, not a wink =)

Memories made. I'd call that a successful day.

Christy

It has been my intent to do a post on every member of my family, on or near their birthday this year. I have really dropped the ball on this one....her birthday was July 5.

Corey brought his girl, Christy Scott, to meet us on the night of his Senior Prom. She was this tiny girl (Christy remembers Ellen calling her Skinny Girl!) with a bubbling personality.....and I liked her! They dated off and on, mostly on, over the next several years. One time after they broke up, I was so sad that I purposely did not make her favorite dessert even though the rest of the family loved it too!

On August 19, 2006 Corey and Christy became Mr. and Mrs. That was a wonderful day! Christy brings a lot of energy and fun to our family. Christy is Mommy to Aidan and Zoe. She is so in love with her kids and is a fantastic mom.

Christy at her bridal shower

A beautiful bride!

Having fun with Aidan

She loves Twin Kiss!
We all love that little eating place in our town =)

Christy is FUN!

Christy is a great Mommy,
a great friend,
and a great party planner for her kids!

Ellen loves her sister-in-law Christy!

Christy with her hubby and children
Beautiful family!

We are blessed! Someday we will share a home with this family. We can't wait! May sound strange to some, but we are all anxious to get on with it.

Speaking of, I must get back to some going through, cleaning out, downsizing of our stuff.....working hard to prepare as we wait for the time to be right.

Blessings to you today!
